This sequined shirt has been sitting in my closet for so long, unworn, that it already has a nickname: Sparkle Motion. As in, "I think I'm going to wear Sparkle Motion today," or "Would Sparkle Motion look good with jean shorts?" and "Oh come on, Sparkle Motion would too be appropriate to wear to trivia!"
(Jeremiah has promised more than a few times that he would hide if I wore this in public, but despite his claims I still haven't put this top in the donate pile.)
In other words, this shirt has been more of an idea -- the idea of being a bolder dresser -- than just an item of clothing. For months, I've let its shiny exterior and big silver fern (octopus legs? claws?) design intimidate me into thinking that a) I must be crazy to have bought this and b) I need the absolute perfect occasion to wear something this awesome.
I gave up on the "perfect" venue for this top and decided that a weeknight was a good enough reason to wear it. I wore it to trivia. Not to Studio 54 or any downtown club, but to trivia in a sports bar. Our bartender loved it.
We won first place. I think Sparkle Motion may need another outing soon...
